To All Prospective Show Participants,

The 2011 St. Lawrence River Rustic Show, sponsored by Creations In Wood, will be held in the River Park in
downtown Clayton, NY, on July 30 as a ONE DAY SHOW.  This show is designed to offer a venue to showcase
skilled, talented designer craftspeople and fine artists.  The show is open to makers of rustic furniture, sculpture,
skiffs/canoes, art, pottery, ceramics,  jewelry, and items of home and cabin decor. All work is to be done by the
artist/maker who will show it.   We also welcome participants from the NY State Ag and Markets.
There is a selection process that does require photographs of your work to simply make sure it fits the stated
guidelines.  Sending a CD or digitals by email is preferred.   Photos or CDs will be returned to you if requested on
application form, otherwise they will be kept on file.  After applying, you will be notified whether you have been
accepted. If your application included payment for a space but does not fit the stated guidelines or the show is full,
your payment will be returned in full.
Parallel events that occur at the same time include the River Run, a fund raising event for Save The River.  River
tours and visitors to the island destinations of both Boldt Castle and Singer Castle are part of the constant
summer activity in Alexandria Bay.
Please contact me if you have any questions.  I may be reached by phone or email using the information on this
page.     Thank You!     Dale

Temporary Certificate of Authority

If you expect to make taxable sales in New York State for no more than two consecutive sales tax quarters in any
12-month period, you may apply for a temporary Certificate of Authority. In determining whether you meet this
requirement, keep in mind that the sales tax quarters are: March 1 through May 31, June 1 through August 31,
September 1 through November 30, and December 1 through February 28 (February 29 in a leap year).
Show and entertainment vendors may not apply for a temporary Certificate of Authority; they must apply for a
regular Certificate of Authority.

To request a temporary Certificate of Authority, you must indicate when you expect your business operation to
begin and end. The temporary certificate will only authorize you to collect tax and conduct your business between
those dates.

However, even if you are eligible to obtain a temporary Certificate of Authority, it may be to your benefit to apply
for a regular Certificate of Authority. A regular certificate provides flexibility to continue your business without
reapplying for a Certificate of Authority each time you begin business again. You may not apply for more than
one temporary Certificate of Authority for any 12-month period.

For additional information on the types of Certificates of Authority, see Publication 750, A Guide to Sales Tax in
New York State.
Trademark, copyright or patent?
What is a trademark or service mark?

A
trademark is a word, phrase, symbol or design, or a combination of words, phrases, symbols or designs,
that identifies and distinguishes the source of the goods of one party from those of others.

A
service mark is the same as a trademark, except that it identifies and distinguishes the source of a service
rather than a product. Throughout a booklet available through the following link, the terms "trademark" and
"mark" refer to both trademarks and service marks.

Do Trademarks, Copyrights and Patents protect the same things?

No. Trademarks, copyrights and patents all differ.

A
copyright protects an original artistic or literary work; a patent protects an invention.

For
copyright information, go to http://www.copyright.gov .

For
patent information, go to  http://www.uspto.gov/main/patents.htm .
